Holiday spices mixed with a Cheerwine Punch reduction tastes like winter in a cup – and perfect for a chilly night by the roaring fire or frankly any holiday gathering. Presented by mixologist Rolando Pettigrew of Dram & Draught in Raleigh, N.C.

Ingredients

  • ½ ounce Star Anise Cheerwine Punch Syrup (prepared)
  • 1 ¼ ounces bourbon
  • ¾ ounce lime juice
  • Dash cherry bitters
  • Blackberries
  • ½ ounce Coladka Hard Cola
  • Lime wheel, dehydrated (garnish)
  • Cherry, soaked in prepared syrup (garnish)
  • Sprig fresh mint (garnish)

Instructions

Star Anise Cheerwine Punch Syrup Preparation: 

Make ahead. On stove top, combine ½ cup Cheerwine Holiday Punch¼ cup demerara syrup, 2 water anise pods, 5 peppercorns, and 1 small cinnamon stick until reduced into syrup. Soak cherry overnight in syrup, ready to garnish your cocktail. 

Cocktail:

Shake prepared syrup, bourbon, lime juice, cherry bitters, and 3 blackberries together, then strain into chilled copper mug. Top with Coladka. Garnish with one lime, cherry, and blackberry on a skewer, then add mint for presentation.
