Whether you are an oven griller or an open flame griller, this finger-licking BBQ chicken recipe will have you (and your family) wanting to keep it on permanent rotation!
- 16 meaty chicken thighs with bones and skin (7–8 pounds total)
- Cheerwine BBQ sauce (see our Sauces & Dressings and pick your favorite)
For Oven Barbecued Thighs:
Place chicken thighs on a well-greased baking sheet, bast with sauce, and bake at 350°F until the meat reaches an internal temperature of 170ºF, about 1 hour, basting thighs with remaining sauce halfway through.
For Grilled Barbecued Thighs:
Light a charcoal fire in the bottom of a covered grill. Allow to burn down until the coals are red in the center and gray on the outside. Spray the grate with nonstick spray and place it over the coals. Bast thighs with sauce and place on grate grilling with lid covered over medium-high heat (350º – 400ºF) for 15 minutes, turning occasionally. Brush with more sauce and grill until the meat reaches an internal temperature of 170ºF, about another 15 minutes, basting with more sauce as needed.
