This Southern take on the classic dessert from Chef Greg Williams at Charlotte, N.C.’s What the Fries is an easy crowd-pleaser for your next holiday party or meal.
Ingredients
Pudding:
- 7 loaves of bread
- 12 eggs
- 1 quart cream
- 1 liter Cheerwine
- 4 cups sugar
Streusel:
- 1 box cherry Jell-O
- 14 ounces chocolate and vanilla cookies
- 8 ounces melted butter
Syrup Glaze:
- 1 liter Cheerwine
- 1 cup sugar
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325°F.
- Mix all pudding ingredients in large bowl and spread out in a half-sheet tray, then bake at 325°F for 30 minutes.
- Separately, mix streusel ingredients together and bake at 325°F for 30 minutes.
- Meanwhile, combine ingredients for glaze in a small saucepan and reduce for 30 minutes.
- Finally, add baked streusel to the top of the baked bread pudding and pour prepared Cheerwine glaze over the top.
- Optional: Drizzle melted white chocolate on the bread pudding in addition to the glaze.
