This Southern take on the classic dessert from Chef Greg Williams at Charlotte, N.C.’s What the Fries is an easy crowd-pleaser for your next holiday party or meal.

Ingredients

Pudding:

  • 7 loaves of bread
  • 12 eggs
  • 1 quart cream
  • 1 liter Cheerwine
  • 4 cups sugar

Streusel:

  • 1 box cherry Jell-O
  • 14 ounces chocolate and vanilla cookies
  • 8 ounces melted butter

Syrup Glaze:

  • 1 liter Cheerwine
  • 1 cup sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F.
  2. Mix all pudding ingredients in large bowl and spread out in a half-sheet tray, then bake at 325°F for 30 minutes.
  3. Separately, mix streusel ingredients together and bake at 325°F for 30 minutes.
  4. Meanwhile, combine ingredients for glaze in a small saucepan and reduce for 30 minutes.
  5. Finally, add baked streusel to the top of the baked bread pudding and pour prepared Cheerwine glaze over the top. 
  6. Optional: Drizzle melted white chocolate on the bread pudding in addition to the glaze.
