This Southern take on the classic dessert from Chef Greg Williams at Charlotte, N.C.’s What the Fries is an easy crowd-pleaser for your next holiday party or meal.
Ingredients
Pudding:
7 loaves of bread
12 eggs
1 quart cream
1 liter Cheerwine
4 cups sugar
Streusel:
1 box cherry Jell-O
14 ounces chocolate and vanilla cookies
8 ounces melted butter
Syrup Glaze:
1 liter Cheerwine
1 cup sugar
Instructions
Preheat oven to 325°F.
Mix all pudding ingredients in large bowl and spread out in a half-sheet tray, then bake at 325°F for 30 minutes.
Separately, mix streusel ingredients together and bake at 325°F for 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, combine ingredients for glaze in a small saucepan and reduce for 30 minutes.
Finally, add baked streusel to the top of the baked bread pudding and pour prepared Cheerwine glaze over the top.
Optional: Drizzle melted white chocolate on the bread pudding in addition to the glaze.
